Can you believe that some schools in the country have been bringing in narcotics sniffer dogs not to sniff out drugs, but to sniff out vapes (BusinessTech, 2023)? It might seem extreme to resort to such measures, but it shows that vaping among school-going children is a serious concern to schools – and it should also be to parents.
Illegal smoking among children is nothing new and many chain smokers admit that they started smoking while they were still in school – some might even have started secretly during their primary school years. During the past couple of years, vaping has become somewhat of a convenient fashion statement among smokers. For children vaping should not be as cool or fashionable as they or some adults think it is and it should be a serious concern to parents, teachers and the kids themselves.
