South Africa’s porous borders, combined with corrupt officials and a lack of law enforcement along our borderlines and at some ports of entry/exit, contribute to a situation of which criminals take advantage. Smuggling vehicles and drugs across our borders are not uncommon which is why we put the spotlight on various transnational crimes in the March 2024 issue of Servamus. We also focus on what is being done to improve our country’s border security, one step at a time.
