Question
We often speak about eradicating the “bad apples” in law enforcement. A Servamus reader has asked Pollex whether it would be possible for law enforcers to still be employed by law enforcement agencies even after they have been convicted of corruption; or whether such an offence should bar them from continued employment, at least in theory.

Answer
In answering this corruption-related question, Pollex has searched recent case law to see whether he could find any cases where the court has made any pronouncements in this regard. Interestingly or should we say shockingly, Pollex came across a case of a traffic cop who was convicted of corruption, and who is, apparently still employed by the same traffic department in the Northern Cape.
