I hate rats – and I know that I am not alone. Most people either hate rats or are afraid of them, with good reason. We associate them with filthy conditions, destruction and disease.
These days, there is a new type of RAT in town – in cybertown that is. A RAT that can cause havoc with our personal and financial information. The questions we need to answer are: how do we identify these RATs and what type of “Rattex” do we need to kill these cyber pests?
What is a RAT attack?
A Remote Access Trojan (RAT) is malicious software that allows criminals to control a person’s smartphone or computer remotely (Libera, 2026). Once the hacker has gained illegal access to the infected device, they can use that device to perpetrate various illegal activities (Fortinet, nd).
